The ELDR Institute has established the Center for AI Governance as a dedicated research center focused on the governance documentation requirements for artificial intelligence deployments across regulated industries.

The Center's inaugural research program addresses three primary domains: NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF) implementation documentation for enterprise AI programs; EU AI Act compliance documentation for high-risk AI systems under Regulation 2024/1689; and sector-specific AI governance requirements in financial services, healthcare, and federal agency environments.

The establishment of the Center reflects accelerating regulatory pressure on enterprise AI programs. The EU AI Act entered force in August 2024 and imposes documentation requirements — technical files, risk management documentation, conformity assessments — that many organizations have not yet systematically addressed. The NIST AI RMF, released in 2023, has become the primary governance framework for enterprise AI risk management in the United States.

The Center's first publication, "AI Governance in Enterprise and Regulated Environments" (ELDR-PUB-2026-001), is available through the ELDR Institute Publications Library.
