ELDR Intelligence

Energy Intelligence Associate

Track and analyse energy markets, transition dynamics, and infrastructure risk across Africa, Europe, and North America for institutional decision-makers.

Level: Associate (2–5 Years) Type: Full-Time · Hybrid Location: London, United Kingdom

About the Role

Energy systems — generation, distribution, transition financing, and regulatory architecture — are among the most consequential drivers of institutional risk and opportunity in ELDR's priority markets. The Energy Intelligence Associate contributes dedicated coverage of energy and infrastructure dynamics, producing research that informs client engagements and ELDR's published output. This is an analytical role requiring both sectoral depth and the ability to connect energy developments to their broader governance, regulatory, and financial consequences.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse energy market developments across sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, the UK, and North America — with particular focus on transition finance, grid infrastructure, and energy regulation
  • Produce structured research briefs, sector reports, and ELDR Signal contributions on energy intelligence topics
  • Support client engagements involving energy sector risk, infrastructure investment, and regulatory positioning
  • Track multilateral and bilateral energy financing initiatives (AfDB, World Bank, DFIs) and their strategic implications
  • Maintain a structured database of energy regulatory developments, policy shifts, and sector events across priority jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with the Geopolitical and Sovereign & Capital Markets analysts to integrate energy dynamics into cross-cutting research products

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in energy analysis, energy policy research, commodity intelligence, or related fields
  • Demonstrated analytical writing on energy markets, infrastructure finance, or energy transition topics
  • Working knowledge of energy systems in at least one of ELDR's priority regions — Africa, UK/Europe, or North America
  • Ability to translate technical energy sector data into clear, decision-relevant intelligence for institutional audiences
  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate work in energy policy, environmental economics, international development, or related fields preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with transition finance instruments — green bonds, carbon markets, blended finance — and their governance implications
  • Familiarity with African power sector regulation, IPP frameworks, or regional power pool dynamics (WAPP, EAPP, SAPP)
  • Prior work with an energy consultancy, multilateral institution, commodity house, or policy research organisation

What We Offer

  • Dedicated energy coverage lane within ELDR Intelligence with direct publication credit
  • Integration with cross-functional research and advisory teams on client mandates
  • London hybrid environment with access to the firm's UK institutional network
  • Structured development path toward Senior Intelligence Analyst
